Privacy policy

Moonvine is built to need as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts, no names, no email addresses and no advertising.

In the app

• Calendar, widgets and alerts are calculated on your device. Notifications are scheduled locally and are not sent through our servers.
• Anonymous identity. To make sure each person votes once per window, the app signs in with Firebase Anonymous Authentication, which creates a random identifier for your install. It isn't linked to your name, email, phone number or Apple ID.
• Votes. When you vote, we store one record per vote in Google Cloud Firestore: the window you voted on, your anonymous identifier, the day type, your vote (tasting great or flat) and the time. The app only ever displays totals, but the individual records, which contain no personal details, can be read by other signed-in app installs.
• Settings such as your alert preferences stay on your device.

On this website

This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. The calendar on these pages is calculated in your browser. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of serving them.

Service providers

We use Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) to store anonymous votes, and Firebase Hosting to serve this site.

Deleting your data

Votes can't be deleted from inside the app, and past vote records are kept after you delete the app. Because they are tied only to a random identifier, we can't link them back to you unless you tell us that identifier. To ask about your data, email colin.hanson.89@gmail.com.
